Lesotho, a small mountainous country surrounded by South Africa, captivates visitors with its dramatic landscapes, the rich culture of the Basotho people, and excellent fly-fishing opportunities. At Makhangoa Community Camp, guests stay in traditional stone cottages with thatched roofs that blend local architecture with modern comforts.
Fishing takes place along approximately 20 kilometers of the Bokong River, divided into five zones, where anglers are accompanied by crystal-clear streams, towering basalt cliffs, and vast mountain vistas. The focus is on catching yellowfish, rainbow trout, and brown trout, primarily using dry flies. For those who love authentic adventures, pristine nature, and discovering lesser-known corners of the world, Makhangoa is a unique fishing destination.

Makhangoa Community Camp is modeled after traditional Basotho homes, allowing it to blend seamlessly into the surrounding mountain landscape. It consists of four round, river-stone cottages with thatched roofs, each accommodating two guests in separate beds. Every cottage also features a veranda overlooking the river.
The camp’s central area is an outdoor terrace equipped with comfortable sofas, a fireplace, and a dining counter, where guests can unwind after a day spent outdoors. The camp is equipped with lighting and electrical outlets for charging phones and cameras. Bathroom facilities—including flush toilets, hot showers, and washbasins—are located in a separate stone building.
In the fully equipped kitchen, guides prepare simple yet hearty meals—featuring mainly meat and potatoes—to provide nourishment after an active day.
